Celebrating 80!

A colleague asked me to make a cake to celebrate her grandmother Laurel's 80th birthday.  Laurel loves to knit - so why not a knitting themed cake.

The cake itself is raspberrry and hazelnut  with a white chocolate ganache filling and decorated to theme. The balls of wool are edible and the knitting needles are made using fondant.

Double Delight

My nieces Hannah Leslie and Taylor Rose (identical twins) were Christened today, and I had the pleasure of making the cake.

It's a lovely moist lemon butter cake ganached with white chocolate and covered with fondant.  To decorate I made  several 'double delight' sugar roses and to finish painted gold feature items that I made with fondant including the book mark and fleur de lis.

Bursting with Flavour!

Lavender and honey cupcakes simply decorated with edible glitter and fondant stars.

Old Fashioned Charm.

I enjoy making cakes for family members, not only because I love them but I always have total creative freedom. This time I even experimented with a new recipe - Hazelnut and Raspberry Cake filled with white chocolate ganache.

My niece has a passion for the study of history and loves the old fashioned charm of cameo jewellery which gave me the inspiration for her cake. I handmade several  cameos for decoration and finished with pearls and a simple fondant lace.

Fire it Up!!!!

Somebody has just landed her dream job - firefighter!  So why not celebrate with a pink fire engine cake.

Devils Food (chocolate), filled with dark chocolate ganache, covered and decorated with fondant - 100% edible.
